A woman accused with pursuing Kate McCann reportedly deposited her a phone message which questioned: "imagine I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, twenty-four, who court testimony revealed has persistently declared she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are standing trial accused with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February this year.

On Monday, the tribunal heard communication data and data recovered from phones documented Ms Wandelt repeatedly demanding Madeleine's mother for a biological test throughout the past two years.

Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - at the age of three during a family holiday in Portugal - is one of the most publicized missing child cases and continues to be open.

'I Am Not Seeking Money'

Another recorded message, shared in court, documented Ms Wandelt stating: "I know I'm fat and not pretty like Madeleine used to be, but I know what I feel."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's answerphone expressed: "What if there is a tiny probability that I am Madeleine? What happens next? Isn't that important for you?"

"I am not seeking money, I have a living here in Poland, I simply desire to understand," the message continued.

The tribunal was informed that via electronic messages, mobile messages and calls, Ms Wandelt demanded a genetic test, transmitted early photographs to her phone in a bid to display a resemblance to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and asserted to have "memories" from a youth with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an intelligence analyst with law enforcement who collated the evidence, told the court there "seemed to lack any answers" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also contacted family friends of the McCanns, as per the call data.

On October 9th, 2024, Gerry McCann responded to a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "a wrong number."

During that incident Ms Wandelt deposited a voicemail on Mrs McCann's recording saying "I will continue and I plan to establish my claim."

The court was informed the co-defendant developed a association online with Ms Wandelt prior to joining her on a visit to the McCanns' home in the county in December 2024.

Communication data showed Mrs Spragg had reached out through communication app to Mrs McCann to state the press had depicted Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she should be taken seriously in the time leading up to the appearance to the village, the county, in last December.

The court learned communications between the two individuals, in November 2024, considering attempting to obtain Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her bins or from cutlery at a restaurant.

"We have to assert ourselves," Mrs Spragg advised Ms Wandelt.

On the night of the appearance to their house, the defendant transmitted a text which said: "We are positioned outside the McCanns' home with our headlights off resembling detectives. I wanted to accomplish this with another person I didn't imagine I would be involved in this with the McCanns."
