Brassic Calls it a Day with Tarantino-Inspired Finale
Joseph Gilgun and Danny Brocklehurst are concluding on their comedy series about a tight-knit bunch of endearing rogues running riot in a rural Lancashire town. You might expect the last episode to be a greatest hits victory lap of booze, drugs and cheeky thievery. But, the vibes are distinctly darker as the character Vinnie, played by Gilgun and the crew barricade themselves in a bar with criminal figure Davey MacDonagh for a climactic 50th episode seemingly influenced by the filmmaker Quentin Tarantino.

The veterinary adventures are all fine, but this superior period drama proves its worth with tender character work. An especially moving installment intertwines the tales of a lame shire horse and a vanished calf into a deeper plotline centring on the character Tristan, whose behaviour prompts a brotherly confrontation.
The Hack

The journey has been lengthy. Yet the second-to-last episode of this at first slow-moving but ultimately compelling series about phone hacking sees Nick, portrayed by David Tennant uncovering information about the News of the World’s conduct that the other media outlets simply can’t ignore. Things are also looking up for Dave, who has a unexpected new supporter.
