Democrat legislators who encouraged American troops to disobey illegal commands are now responding to what they call a federal investigation into their actions.

Democratic Legislator Elissa Slotkin of the state of Michigan announced that the Federal Bureau of Investigation on the start of the week informed the half-dozen lawmakers who were featured in last week's video about the examination.

"No amount of intimidation or targeting will never stop us from doing our jobs and honoring our founding document," four Congressional representatives declared.

Their statement to troops led to President Trump to allege the Democrats of "treasonous conduct, punishable by death" and triggered a Pentagon review of "serious allegations of improper behavior" against Democrat Senator Mark Kelly of the state of Arizona, who also participated in the recording.

The Justice Department declined to provide statement on the alleged investigation.

The recording by Democrats, all of whom have served in the armed forces or intelligence community, was shared last week by Slotkin and includes Kelly and Congress members Chris Deluzio, Maggie Goodlander, Chrissy Houlahan and Jason Crow.

The message came amid increasing friction between the Trump administration and the Venezuelan government, as well as Democrat-led cities resisting Trump's sending of state military forces to the region.

Federal Bureau Participation

The senator said on Tuesday that the FBI's national security division delivered a notification to the Congress members to notify them of an alleged investigation into the elected officials.

"His response and the use of the FBI against us is exactly why we created the video," she stated at an gathering in Michigan.

"He thinks in employing the federal government against his perceived opponents, and he's not afraid to use the resources of the administration against individuals he opposes," she commented, describing Trump's actions as "a scare tactic."

Congressional Reaction

Likewise, US representatives Deluzio, Goodlander, Houlahan and Crow said that Trump is using the Federal Bureau as "instrument to pressure and harass" members of Congress, verifying that the FBI contacted the Congressional security officials to arrange interviews.

The recording - in which Kelly accused the government of "pitting our uniformed military and security personnel against the American people" - provoked Trump's ire and he suggested on online platforms that they be arrested, locked up and hanged.

His comments drew bipartisan censure and the president ultimately walked back his remarks in a TV interview, explaining that he was "not threatening capital punishment."

Pentagon Response

On the start of the week, the Defense Department accused the Arizona legislator, a former officer in the US Navy and space explorer, of violating armed forces regulations. The military leadership said it would conduct a review to establish whether the state senator should be recalled to active duty to undergo court-martial proceedings.

Even though the senator left from the military, he is nevertheless subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice - a national legislation established by Congress in 1951 that subjects members of the military to a special set of rules.

Defense Leader Statement

Military leader Pete Hegseth charged Kelly of breaking the UCMJ and of using his position and military background as a way to provide "the appearance of authority to his statements" in the recording.

He continued that Kelly's behavior "brings discredit upon the armed forces and will be handled properly."

But Kelly also pushed back, saying that he has "given significant service to this nation to be intimidated by bullies who care more about their own authority than protecting the Constitution."

Accounts suggested on the following day that the FBI and Justice Department reached out to Congressional security to schedule interviews with the six legislators.

The Federal Bureau refused to provide statement on Tuesday when approached by media outlets.
