Ex- Doctor Faces Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have stated that a former doctor has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
A senior prosecutor said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
