Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
