Recent Information Emerge About the Location of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
Recent details have emerged regarding the untimely passing of renowned film director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their residence residence on Sunday.
The Alarm
According to a report citing a family associate, a massage therapist scheduled for an appointment first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the residence. The therapist then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.
When she went into the home, Romy found her father's body. Accounts indicate she then fled the house in anguish, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. A companion who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Following this, first responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Proceedings
The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, as well as the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently being held without bail.
Correcting the Record
The person close to the family also disputed several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that time.
The source also disputed published notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's behavior in recent weeks. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation also extends to reports of reportedly "erratic" behavior by Nick at a gathering held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. While the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.
Investigation Details
As stated by law enforcement sources, the coroner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some accounts noted the condition of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for some hours.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not been medically cleared and would not appear until no sooner than Wednesday.
