The network's Leading Fresh Series of 2025 Earns a Major Renewal for Two More Seasons.

In October of last year, the late-night programming block welcomed back its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. However, not long after, the network launched a completely new animated series with a strikingly different tone. Haha, You Clowns emerged as heartwarming and calm, evoking a animated take of a contemplative talk show. In an era often defined by dark humor, this show's wholesomeness found an audience and helped it become a breakout hit.

A Major Commitment

On December 18th, Adult Swim confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for two additional seasons. This gives creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to develop the world of the Campbell family. The series centers on three respectful teenage brothers whose central trait is their profound affection for their widowed father, with Cappa portraying for all four central characters.

"I’m so grateful to the audience of the show who took a chance on the show and shared it with others," said Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

Executive Acclaim

The official statement also included laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and strangely uncanny." He thanked the fans who discovered the show and advocated for its peculiarly charming sensibility.

"All of you showed up for this new show, rooted for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Comforting Counterpoint

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a wholesome alternative" to more cynical adult animated fare. There’s something surprisingly comfy about following this lovable family navigate their daily lives.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa stated his goal to help comedy break out of its current cynical streak. He attributed this trend to various cultural shifts.

ā€œThere's this level of irony that we are trapped in,ā€ said Cappa. ā€œIt's like we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we just have to laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.ā€

The Path Forward

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa may well catalyze that comedic shift. If nothing else, the renewal guarantees audiences additional episodes to bask in the gentle humor of the endearing Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. The complete first season is ready to watch on HBO Max.
