The Secret Organization is poised to play a huge role in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the true confrontation won’t unfold until the next season, and a cherished, audience-beloved member has recently been selected.

The platform declared Tuesday that the skilled actor is now part of the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will portray Mr. 2. This character can use their power to transform into an perfect replica of any individual they’ve touched with their dominant hand. Escola, who is non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will portray a version of that figure re-envisioned as gender non-binary, rather than as a drag artist, in the live-action series, as in the original manga and anime.

Escola is joined by a number of new cast members tasked with bringing the organization to reality, featuring leader Sir Crocodile, portrayed by the seasoned performer, a talented actress as another operative, and a familiar face, who is also part of the ensemble as the ruler of the fictional land.

Though Bon Clay is a major member of the group, the individual won’t appear until One Piece the upcoming installment. With season 2 likely to portray the Little Garden storyline, this represents a notable change in the schedule of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could suggest further changes to the story’s structure.

Escola’s blend of sharp comedic timing and deep sensitivity makes them a perfect fit for the role. In addition to their latest vocal work in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and numerous honors for penning and acting in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, emphasizing the versatility they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s most celebrated characters.

The streaming service’s real-life One Piece series is due to premiere for its season two on March 10, 2026.
